This World Bank aided project included financial analysis, detailed
tariff study and cost benefit analysis from the eco-nomic
perspective. It included economic ass-essment of alternative
configurations, deter-mination of peak and off-peak tariffs based
on long-run marginal energy and capacity costs and suggesting
alternative project options as well as preparation of sensitivity
analysis. We were also involved in conducting a techno-economic
feasibility study on a pilot demand side management project through
the municipal water supply system.
Our services included study of the current municipal water supply
system, analysis of current and projected demand for electricity
and water and design of a pilot DSM project. We also undertook a
financial and economic analysis of this project.
Energy efficiency of Kolkata water supply and
sewerage
The objective of this assignment was to conduct a techno-economic
feasibility study for a demand side management project at the
municipal water supply and sewerage system in Kolkata. Our services
included developing analysis of the existing system, current and
projected demand for municipal water supply and electricity. We
were also involved with the designing as well as financial and
economic analysis of this project for Kolkata Municipal
Corporation.

Rural water supply and environmental sanitation project in
four states, India
The World Bank aided rural water supply and environmental
sanitation project encompasses a strong demand driven approach
whereby beneficiary groups were integral to the planning,
execution, operation and maintenance of proposed project
investments. We were entrusted by the rural water supply and
sanitation agency of the states of Kerala, Karnataka, Punjab and
Andhra Pradesh to assess the financial and economic viability of
the proposed project. This involved estimating the value of the
project to the economy and justifying investments.
Swajal project, Uttarakhand
The Swajal project aims to improve the quality of rural water
supply and environmental sanitation service delivery for achieving
sustainability of investments and generate health and income
benefits in all the thirteen districts of the state of Uttarakhand.
Mott MacDonald conducted an economic analysis for the Swajal
project as part of the overall Uttarakhand Rural Water Supply and
