Sandoz pharma plant

Sandoz, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Novartis-AG, has set up a pharmaceutical formulation facility at Kalwe, at the outskirts of Mumbai. Sandoz's first large scale facility in Asia was built at a cost of $13 million. The facility has been built to US and European standards and is dedicated to these markets.

New tablet manufacturing facility, Gujarat

The Brownfield project comprised of a new 13,000 TPA tablet manufacturing facility located at Jhagadia in the state of Gujarat. The project involved three production blocks comprising of 450 equipments, tank farms, warehouses, utility block and other associated amenities. The production plant involved process operations like reactions, fractional distillation, solvent recovery, synthesis with unit operations like pastillation and scrubbing. We provided detailed engineering and project management services for Astra Zeneca.

New API facility, Matoda

Intas has set up a new API plant for production of bulk drugs with USFDA complaints. The plant would produce metaprolol, pregabaline, rabeprazole, aripiprazole and temisartan. We provided complete basic and detailed engineering for Intas Pharmaceuticals Limited.

Wockhardt biotech facility

Wockhardt, a pharmaceuticals major and amongst the 50 most valuable companies in India, has set up a 28000sqm global-scale biopharmaceuticals manufacturing biotech complex in Aurangabad, India. The state-of-art complex comprises of six dedicated manufacturing facilities, designed according to USFDA and EMEA standards. In the complex, Wockhardt set up the first plant in Asia to manufacture its own recombinant DNA product.

Mott MacDonald provided services from plant scale up to process design and basic engineering, design and detailed engineering, construction supervision and project management on this prestigious 2200sqm - Asia's first recombinant protein project.

Oral solid and liquid dosage formulation plant – Himachal Pradesh, India

This plant is one of the largest formulation facility in India with an investment of USD 50 mn. Plant is designed to manufacture OSD, Tablets, Capsules, liquid orals and soft gelatine. The unit has a Pharma grade plant building of 225,000 sq. ft area.

Our role included concept development, engineering and tendering, site supervision and quality assurance services of this state of art pharmaceutical production facilities.

Projects for Dr. Reddy’s laboratories

Mott MacDonald India is involved in setting up of various projects for Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories at various locations like Hyderabad, Vizag and Miryalguda. These plants were specially constructed to manufacture API and Bulk Drugs, Cyto toxic hormones, products for clinical trials.

Bacterial and mammalian cell fermentation plant

Scigen India Limited (Biopharmax India) set up this unit at Pune, India and appointed Mott MacDonald India for its extended basic engineering, detailed engineering, construction supervision and project management services. We worked on international technology as provided by client and prepared extended basic engineering document including cost estimates before taking up detailed engineering.

Research and Development Laboratory Project, Bangalore, Karnataka

Biocon, a global healthcare company, proposed to develop a research and development facility located at Bangalore in the state of Karnataka. The facility encompassed laboratories - bioassay, bio-analytical, characterization, formulation, analytical, cell culture, cell bank, microbial upstream / downstream, molecular biology, synthetic chemistry and process chemistry. Burt Hill Private Limited was appointed to provide architectural and civil engineering services. Mott MacDonald provided detailed engineering, procurement assistance and project management services for the facility on behalf of Burt Hill Private Limited.

Greenfield Formulation OSD Facility, Maharashtra

Mott MacDonald has been appointed by Flamingo Pharmaceuticals to provide engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) services for the development of two pharmaceutical formulation plants - Oral Solid Dosage (OSD) and betalactum facility in Nanded in the state of Maharashtra. The project development will include an OSD block, betalactum block, tank farms, effluent treatment plant, aboveground water storage, waste storage facility, storm water drain, an administrative building, sub-station as well as roads and a parking area.

API and Oral Solid Dosage (OSD) Facility, Gujarat

Torrent Pharmaceuticals manufactures API bulk drugs for speciality products and is a key player in cardiovascular, psychotropic and similar niche segments of healthcare. The manufacturing facility encompasses 25 molecules with a total capacity planned to produce 60 metric tonnes annually. The OSD formulation facility is planned to produce 3800 million tablets annually besides capsules and injectible. We provided basic and detailed engineering, master planning, conceptual design, detailed engineering, procurement assistance, construction supervision, commissioning assistance and project management services.
