Mott MacDonald has been awarded a prestigious Occupational Health
and Safety Gold Award from the Royal Society for the Prevention of
Accidents (RoSPA).
The global management, engineering and development consultancy,
which has over 6000 staff based in 33 offices around the UK,
received its Gold Award at a ceremony held on 13 May in
Birmingham.
The RoSPA awards recognise the commitment made by a company to good
health and safety management which results in improvements in
accident performance and reductions in ill health in the
workplace.
Richard Williams, Mott MacDonald’s Group development director
commented, “We are really delighted to receive this RoSPA Gold
award, which recognises the very significant progress we have made
in safety management at Mott MacDonald. The award is testament to
the hard work and planning by our safety team across the global
reach of Mott MacDonald. There is always more to do in safety
management, it is a never ending journey, especially in finding
effective ideas which will span the global cultures we operate in
across our 14,000 staff.”
David Rawlins, RoSPA awards manager, said, “Mott MacDonald has
shown a commitment to protecting the health and well-being of its
employees and others. Entering the RoSPA Awards reinforces the
message that good health and safety is good for business, and
clearly demonstrates an organisation’s dedication to improving
performance in this crucial area.”
To mark the International Labour Organisation’s (ILO) World Day for
Safety and Health at Work as well as the company’s commitment to
health and safety Mott MacDonald held a global competition, where
all staff were given the opportunity to produce a poster to promote
health and safety and to contribute to raising awareness across the
Group. Four winners were selected, with the winning posters
distributed throughout the company’s offices to help promote safe
behaviour at work.
The RoSPA Awards are sponsored by NEBOSH (the National Examination
Board in Occupational Safety and Health), the leading health and
safety professional examining body.
