We provide a comprehensive range of services in all stages of
planning and implementation process in the transportation sector
encompassing highways, bridges, railways, ports, tunnels, airports,
metros and integrated urban transport.
We deal in portfolios ranging from pre-feasibility and feasibility
studies, tender and contract procedures, financial and economic
analysis, de-tailed project report, integrated transport planning,
detailed engineering, construction supervision, traffic studies,
transport impact studies such as its social and environmental
dimensions. We offer services for development of new infrastructure
to maintaining, managing and improving existing infrastructure. We
have been involved in projects financed by various national and
international funding agencies, government and private sector as
well public-private sector partnership.
Mott MacDonald India was engaged in construction
supervision of Bridge over River Brahmaputra by National Highways
Authority of India (NHAI)Traffic congestion is the focus of
many assignments. Round-the-clock congestion and complex traffic
management issues are just some of the challenges our 50-strong
planning, design and site supervision team tasked with modernising
and widening strategic sections of Mumbai’s highway network tackled
– including its most heavily trafficked arterial route linking the
central business district with the airport.
Tourism is another driver behind some of our transportation
projects such as providing project management services for
upgrading part of the state’s road network, improving junctions and
landscaping, together with design and pre-tender tasks for
dual-lane carriageways and upgrading roads within a wildlife
sanctuary. Our roles cover construction supervision services
including finance control and quality assurance. We also certify
contractor’s bills and provide quality management, inspection
services and solutions during defect liability periods.
Highways
Mott MacDonald is working extensively on improving India’s highway
infrastructure, focussing on assignments for respected clients,
particularly the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).
Activities in this sector include design, tender preparation and
construction supervision for urban, inter-urban and industrial
estate road systems. Mott MacDonald has had involvement with all
the Government of India’s major road programmes, including the
Golden Quadrilateral, North-South East-West and National Highways
Development Programmes III – VII.
In the highways sector we are engaged in planning,
designing and implementing new roads to maintaining, managing,
improving and operating existing highway networks
Staff from the Indian operation has also participated in Mott
MacDonald’s projects elsewhere, particularly in Ireland and the
UK.
Airports and ports
Port development and connectivity are priority areas for the
strengthening of India’s infrastructure. Mott MacDonald has been
engaged in highway and railway improvements aimed at strengthening
port connectivity. We have also been involved in the design,
checking and valuation of seaport facilities, particularly for
landing and storage of oil and gas products.
Mott MacDonald is pleased to have contributed significantly to
compiling the only technically qualified bids for the privatisation
of Delhi and Mumbai airports, and has worked with the successful
bidders on the master planning of new facilities at both airports.
We also represented the interests of the Indian lenders on the
development of the new Hyderabad international airport and we're
well equipped to support the planning, design and implementation of
India’s rapid expansion in air transportation.

Railways and metros
Mott MacDonald is empanelled with Railway Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL)
and working on the strengthening of a key link of the railway
system in north-west India.
We are detail design civil and structural
consultants for Laxminagar Elevated Metro Station
Additionally, we have played a key role in the development of Delhi
Metro, winning a British Tunnelling Industry Award (2005
International Project of the Year) for the design of the main
underground section on Line 2 (Chandni Chowk to Central
Secretariat). The Indian team on this project has gone on to win
further design commissions on Line 3 as well as provides the
capability to deliver Mott MacDonald’s world-renowned metro
expertise to other projects in India.
